Mugi 0.12.2 (August 2026) is a public beta — early software from a solo project, not a finished 1.0.
A local Mac agent that gets things done — in a native app, not a terminal. Runs on your Mac with open-source models you choose; no data leaves your machine, nothing is collected, and everything you create stays under your control.
It maintains an ongoing model of your context and commitments, then surfaces background work as reviewable proposals and tasks — never silent action.
Recent progress (August 2026)
The preview is moving — not standing still. Version 0.12.1 hardened what shipped; 0.12.2 is about the boring, hard work being done properly:
Documents you can work with — PDFs keep their headings, numbered lists and tables; hand back a real Word file and edit it in place.
Reads the whole thing — files, long web pages and attachments size themselves to the model's context instead of caps chosen years ago, and say plainly when something genuinely was cut short.
Reach Mugi over iMessage — you and only you, with replies you can tell apart from your own messages.
Clearer boundaries — who is asking and where an answer is allowed to go are now separate questions, and a refusal explains itself in plain words.
Undo outside the Vault — the previous version of every file Mugi touches is kept.
Earlier, 0.12.1 hardened Kanban mid-flight, study and research routing, and filesystem search. 0.12.0 added Mac app control with confirmation, save/download/convert into your workspace, and a calmer cold-start launch. Before that, 0.11.0 focused on the rooms you keep:
Vault as its own notebook — hybrid search, related inspector, wikilinks. “On my mind” triage stays separate.
Knowledge Library as a continuous workspace with source repair, clearer ingest status, and trust health.
Kernel cutover complete — chat and Kanban workers share one stack.
